Carl Imes

Carl's decades in music have taken shape through a series of long-running collaborations, each rooted in acoustic songwriting and harmony. Beginning with the contemporary Christian folk-rock trio Cary, Carl, and Mike, he spent nearly a decade touring the southeast, releasing the albums Sing a New Song and Time Goes By.

He and Cary went on from there to form the folk duo Grubbs and Imes, spending over a decade playing coffeehouses and venues and releasing the album Song Evangel, a blend of originals, classic hymns, and traditional folk. That duo eventually grew into the bluegrass/newgrass band Line Creek, which Carl still plays with, recently returning from a concert trip to Italy.

Alongside these projects, Carl has spent decades playing in church worship and performance bands. He also collaborated with fellow songwriters on a project called At the Crossroads, which produced the album In the Light of His Glory and Grace. His current work channels that same eclectic, acoustic-rooted style into an Americana/folk project full of introspective, life-worn songwriting.
